I purchased a new Chaparral 260 Signature Cruiser in 2000. In order to perserve the hull, I had antifoul paint professionally applied. However, every year when I haul my boat out of the water the antifoul is blistering and peeling of the hull. The gelcoat has no blisters under the areas that are blistering. I tried different antifoul paints and I get the same results. Within the first month of sitting in the water (fresh water - the boat was used in completely different bodies of water with the same results) blisters begin to form.
Do I have some form of electrolysis problem or is there some type of chemical embalance?? If anyone has had this problem before it would be greatly appreciated if you have an answer. The dealership doesn't know what the problem is and Chaparral just don't care!!!
