Thanks Bengt, I was hoping you would say something like that. I am still going to try and get access to a digital camera, just so I can be sure, if thats ok. I guess I have two questions based on your reply. First, if on the off chance that it was osmosis that had developed sometime over the past 12 years, is it something that will/can spread to other areas of the hull? Or is it something that just happened to that particular area at one point and since I am storing the boat out of the water, will not cause any further damage? Second, once again if it is osmosis and I repair it with the filler you suggest, will it cause any type of further problems? I hope you are right, that it was a problem with the mold, therefore my questions will not be an issue. Thanks again.

: This most probably has nothing to do with hydrolysis ("osmosis"). My guess is that there has been something wrong with the mold wax in those areas at the construction. You can fill the holes with a polyester filler and sand if you want the areas smoth. Do not use epoxy for this as that will give you trouble making the antifouling to stick at those areas.
: Regards Bengt

: : I purchased a 20 ft, 12 year old boat approx 2 months ago. From what I understand, the boat was kept in water (fresh) for the first 7 years during season. After the seven years it was put on a trailer and stored out of the water. I was winterizing the boat and had to crawl underneath the trailer. On the very underside of the boat, I noticed two circular pattern areas, each the size of a hand. They are side by side. In the circular pattern areas, there are approx 10 or so small holes approx 1 - 3 mm deep. (The holes form the circular areas). The holes appear to be dry and the inside of the holes are hard. They are not blisters, but tiny holes. The inside of the holes are a greenish / gray colour. Is this osmosis? If so, should I be concerned and what should I do about it? I'm trying to get access to a digital camera so I can better describe the holes.
