Hello Jake,
My advise is: Sand the hull as even as possible. Paint the top sides with a normal
one component laquer which is the most simple to repaint when it is scratched.
Paint the bottom with antifouling only. Don't waste money on any kind of "protective"
coating. Especially not vinyl ester which is very sensitive for the acids formed by
the hydrolysis process which it can not stop. As a proper repair to stop the hydrolysis
process is far too expensive compared to the value of this hull, doing nothing more than
what I recommend will keep it alive longer than any kind of expensive "shielding"
